ATI 9.3 driver does the job for Windows 7 (beta?) users
Today ATI released the Catalyst 9.3 driver for Windows Vista and Windows 7. HEXUS.net did a review on these new drivers and found out something that ATI fans would gladly appreciate. There is no performance penalty in moving to Windows 7.
They tested with the highest end offerings from both companies; the HD 4870X2 from ATI and the GTX295 from nVidia. Even though there was a weird performance improvement across both cards in Windows 7 when playing Company of Heroes, in all other titles the ATI card was performing similarly in Vista and 7, while we saw some degradation in the nVidia card in Windows 7.
Too bad for nVidia fans. Maybe they will come up with a new driver that’ll bring the performance in both OSes to same level.
